Formaldehyde is primarily used as an intermediate in resin production and in the chemical industry. Formaldehyde resins play an important role in the manufacture of foam insulation materials, particleboard, and plywood, as well as in the processing of textile products. In medical laboratories, it is used as a preservative solution and sterilizing agent.
It is used in the paper industry for bleaching papers and in the textile sector for whitening fabrics. Additionally, it is utilized in the production of disinfectants, oxidizing agents, antiseptics, and even in rocket fuel manufacturing.
It is used as a reducing agent in the removal of defective dyes, abrasive printing, reductive washing of polyester fibers, bleaching of cotton, polyamide, wool, and silk, as well as in dyeing cotton with vat and sulfur dyes.
